Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between conventional and addressable fire alarms?

Conventional systems divide a building into zones; addressable systems identify each individual device on the panel. Addressable systems are preferred for larger or more complex buildings where rapid fault identification and staged evacuation are required.

How often does a fire alarm need servicing?

BS 5839-1 recommends a minimum of two service visits per year for commercial systems, plus weekly and monthly testing by a responsible person. Our maintenance contracts cover all of this.

What does fire alarm maintenance include?

A planned visit can include detector, manual call point, sounder and panel checks, cause-and-effect testing, fault review, battery checks, record updates and clear recommendations for any remedial work.

Can you maintain a fire alarm system installed by another company?

Yes. We can survey and maintain many existing conventional and addressable systems, review the available documentation, and recommend a practical servicing schedule for your premises.

Can you upgrade my existing fire alarm panel?

Yes. We assess your current system, advise on the most cost-effective upgrade path, and carry out the work with minimal disruption to your operations.

Do you provide 24/7 emergency callout?

Yes. All our maintenance contract customers have access to our 24/7 emergency response line for faults, false alarms, and urgent compliance issues.
